I’m Buffie! The founder, CEO, and head fashion designer at BrickBuilt.com.
Back in 2009, I launched my YouTube channel, posting exercise videos to help women get moving and stay fit!
One day, I thought to myself, “How hard could it be to start making women’s fitness clothing?” So, I did my research, and fast forward more than a decade—I’m now running my own apparel brand!
I had no experience in retail, fashion design, e-Commerce, or even fitness, lol! All I knew was that I wanted to create cute fitness wear for women!
I taught myself how to work with manufacturers in Asia, became my own broker, and started importing large shipments into the U.S. I made tons of mistakes, but none of them stopped my grind! As my business grew, I began hiring full-time employees and contractors to help run the company. Along the way, I learned how to use software like Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and CLO-3D. I’ve even traveled to China three times to visit some of the largest textile factories, fabric markets, and clothing manufacturers in the world!
I created The Threads Scientist to help those of you who want to dive into the clothing business and start your own brand but need a little guidance. And for those of you already in the industry but just haven’t found success yet—I got you!

Hey, I’m Threadessa..last name Hemm—your no-fluff fashion business bestie and the alter ego of Buffie, founder of Brick Built and creator of The Threads Scientist.
I’m not here to sugarcoat the journey. I’m here to school you on how to build a real clothing brand—the kind that doesn’t just look cute on Instagram but actually makes sales, earns respect, and lasts.
I came to life after watching too many aspiring brand owners fumble the bag, waste money, or get stuck because nobody was giving them the real game. So now, I’m the one who shows up with receipts, rants, tutorials, and tough love. (Oh, and the occasional eye roll when y’all play in Canva like that’s product development 
)…We do love Canva tho..
Buffie built an athleisure brand from scratch—no fashion school, no big investors, just hustle, mistakes, and crazy dedication. She figured out how to design collections, work directly with overseas manufacturers, approve samples, manage inventory, and launch custom pieces—all while learning every piece of the business from the ground up.
And me? I’m here to break it all down for you in a way that’s smart, funny, and easy to follow. If you’re ready to stop dreaming and start building a brand that’s actually built right—I’m your girl.
